What students build

Students build a real AI prediction system. They start with raw data — marks, study hours, attendance, sleep patterns — and learn how to clean it, visualize it, find patterns, and train a model that predicts future exam scores. Not a black box: they understand what features matter, what confidence intervals mean, and why AI sometimes gets it wrong. The final product is a web dashboard where you input your data and get a prediction with a confidence range and visualization.

What makes it real

01

Real Dataset Analysis

Students work with real (anonymized) student performance data. CSV loading, pandas DataFrames, data cleaning.

02

Feature Engineering

Which matters more — hours studied or hours slept? Students test hypotheses and learn what "features" mean in ML.

03

Model Training

Linear regression first, then decision trees. Students see how different models give different predictions.

04

Confidence Intervals

Not just "you'll score 85" — but "82–88 with 90% confidence." Students learn uncertainty is part of intelligence.

05

Interactive Dashboard

Web interface where anyone can input study hours, past scores → get a prediction with charts and explanation.

06

Model Accuracy Comparison

Train 3 models, compare accuracy. Learn why simpler models sometimes beat complex ones (overfitting).

Skills that transfer

  • Data science fundamentals — loading, cleaning, visualizing data
  • Machine learning concepts — training, testing, accuracy, overfitting
  • API integration — calling OpenAI and Claude for enhanced predictions
  • Statistics — mean, median, standard deviation, correlation, confidence intervals
  • Data visualization — matplotlib charts, interactive dashboards
  • Critical thinking — why AI predictions can be wrong and how to improve them

Why parents care

01

AI literacy is becoming as important as reading and writing

02

Directly applicable to their own school performance analysis

03

Teaches critical thinking about AI claims they see everywhere

04

Skills used in every industry — medicine, finance, engineering, business
